SharePoint Exploitation, including social media aspects

What is it?

This service offering helps Customers assess how sharing information and knowledge effectively through SharePoint can boost productivity.

The difference between this offering and the information architecture one below is that once SharePoint is configured properly, there still remains the challenge to get the most out of it.

Why do it?

Maximising return on investment from any technology initiative is not straightforward, and needs to be managed.

Rather like using MS Office, there is often a lot that doesn’t get used (e.g. My Pages), but could deliver business benefit.

This service offering identifies how MOSS functionality can raise performance and manages the people and process issues involved.

What are the benefits?

Using MOSS tools to their fullest, and getting users to exploit them can lead to better quality proposals, less work in creating documents, much greater sharing of best practice and ‘gotchas’, and hence better quality work.

Being able to readily find subject matter experts, collaboratively create documents, allow regular updates on project progress – all these help boost productivity.

Track record

I wrote a strategy document re using SharePoint 2003 on the intranet of a MOD agency

I benchmarked an existing MOSS implementation being used by Fujitsu and its global partners on the Reuters account, and suggested how it could be better exploited.

Setting up and running several MOSS ‘teamsites’ on Fujitsu Services’ intranet.
