I’m delighted to announce that I’ll be headed to Austin, Texas next week for the South by South West Interactive Festival (SXSWi), which:
“celebrates the creativity and passion behind the coolest new media technologies.
In addition to panel sessions that cover everything from web design to bootstrapping to social networks, attendees make new business connections at the three-day Trade Show & Exhibition.
The newest element of the event is ScreenBurn at SXSW, which adds specific gaming industry programming as well as a three-day Arcade to the mix.”
I will be attending as an Ambassador to the Thinking Digital Conference, and feel slightly daunted by the physical journey and development opportunity it presents—yet very privileged and excited to be going! :-D
I also consider I will be representing the North East of England, so please contact me to discuss what I can do to help you / plug you whilst out at SXSW (within reason!).
fyi I will be attending alongside Digital Mission:
Digital Mission provides an opportunity for companies to expand their business or seek investment overseas, organised by Chinwag and the UKTI.
Herb Kim, Thinking Digital’s Conference Director, was part of the Digital Mission judging panel which choose 35 of the UK’s leading SMEs from the digital industries. As Digital Mission’s blog describes:
The next mission is to South by South West Interactive (SXSWi) in Austin, Texas. It’s shaping up to be a corker with a series of networking events designed to promote, enlighten and enable digital SMEs to set up shop across the pond, all in the space of 6 nights and 5 days!

This mission will take 34 UK digital SME’s to the world’s most vibrant digital conference and festival; SXSW Interactive – where technology, design and business innovators mingle over hundreds of conference sessions and evening bashes.
So, a first post of what will hopefully be many about my preparations; the journey out to Texas; hanging with the Digital Mission; meeting the Digerati; etcetera…
